1. ID / FUNCTION
No clear outline in the floor plan or paperwork of the door rating and therefore the basic specification required for the seals.
2. COVERAGE
Seals only cover part of the door or are missing completely.
Surface mount seals have been installed over concealed seals.
3. SMOKE &/OR FIRE
Installed seals don’t have smoke protection even though they are on a smoke rated door.
The door has a mix of fire only and fire & smoke rated seals.
4. SPECIFICATION
A mixed rating of seals are installed.
Seals are not suitable for the size, or type of door they are fitted to.
The seal position or size is incorrect.
5. NOT A FIRE DOOR
Intumescent seals fitted to a non-fire door, giving the impression it’s part of the containment area.
6. DROP SEALS
Drop seals not operating properly due to poor installation or malfunction.
7. MAINTENANCE
Age may have reduced effectiveness.
Maintenance teams may have painted over or damaged the seals whilst carrying out other works.
