Speed Gate Mounting Options

Often sitting at the front of house, Speed Gates provide an excellent first impression for any building.
Constructed of glass and metal, these systems assert a clear barrier to entry, yet allow for users to see across the room, with their vision unobstructed.
Unlike other pedestrian access solutions, Speed Gates do not need a wall to house them, instead, they can sit anywhere in the room, provided they have access to services (power / network / associated systems).
There are two main ways to install Speed Gates, this being flush and via raised plinths.
Speed Gate Installation Types

Flush installation
Mounting plates, conduit, and structural supports can be discreetly installed beneath the final floor finish, leaving only small mounting brackets exposed.
The Speed Gates, cables and associated systems can then integrated into these mounting points with ease.
Benefits include
- The consistency of floor finish creates a smooth visual transition throughout the room.
- A wide variety of flooring materials can be used, as the pattern is unbroken.
- If needed, Speed Gates can be removed, leaving only minimal floor mounting brackets exposed.

Raised / temporary plinths
On some sites, heritage for example, the fabric of the building can’t be altered. This includes any existing flooring, doors or walls.
In this instance, plinths can be fabricated to ‘float’ on the existing floor.
Often connected, or positioned near to a reception desk, or wall, services can run under the Speed Gate plinths to provide data / power to existing terminals.
Benefits include
- Enables all the standard functionality of Speed Gates without requiring permanent alterations to the fabric of the building.
- In special circumstances, all the Speed Gates could be removed, or moved to another area of the site. This enables the Speed Gates to be somewhat modular.
- If a site only has minimal footfall requirements initially, with the scope to increase over time, this can be a great solution.
- Not touching the existing flooring could save costs. It could also mean a faster turnaround time, depending on the task at hand.
- A selection of plinth materials can be utilised to match the rest of the building.
