Bespoke Door Engineering and Locksmithing
We have over 50 years of experience with all varieties of pedestrian door systems, and the locks associated.
POYNTELL Lock and Door Engineering services
Unlike your usual high street Locksmith operators, we provide multifaceted Commercial Door Services.
Whilst most contractors might look at solutions in a silo, our in-house resources ensure that all systems on the door, including locking, are to the latest operational and legal standards.
Locking and ironmongery hold various legal standards, the Equality Act (DDA) for example. In addition to these legal standards, there are also other aspects to consider, such as localised security protocols.
We are certified to survey, install and maintain all aspects of pedestrian doors. Examples include Commercial Doors, Fire Doors, Security Doors, Access Control, Automatic Doors, Architectural Ironmongery, Fire Stopping Solutions and a host of other Commercial Door Services.

Bespoke Lock Engineering
Locking, or more accurately, ‘controlling of access’ is often at the centre of the door, both physically and metaphorically.
POYNTELL has seen vast evolutions in locking systems over the decades, and has been early adopters, and prototype testers of many manual and electronic locking systems.
Focusing on commercial clients only, our ability to engineer, and reverse engineer all manner of bespoke locks, sits alongside our ability to work with modern off the shelf (cost effective) solutions.
We have worked on the most prestigious sites in the South East of England, and maintain contracts that span decades with Government, Emergency Services and Blue Chip companies.
Bespoke Lock Engineering Services:
- Rebuilding and engineering lock cases.
- Key cutting and engineering new key blanks.
- Engineering faceplates, rosettes, and all manner of ironmongery.
- Integrating modern (cost-effective) Access Control, manual and digital locking solutions into existing bespoke hardware.
- Replicating existing bespoke locking systems.
- Maintenance of bespoke systems to ensure longevity.

Heritage Locksmithing and Door Engineering
Whilst advances have been made with locking technology, we recognise that countless high-security heritage sites simply can’t alter the fabric of the building, doors, ironmongery, architraves and surrounds.
Site managers need to safeguard the legacy of the building, yet they also need to uphold various health and safety standards for the people and assets in those sites. We are experienced at dealing with both of these key concerns.
Beyond our expertise in heritage preservation, we can also design and build temporary ‘floating structures’. For example, we are experienced at creating Bespoke Interlocking Door Systems that are ‘floating’ within the fabric of the building, thus bypassing heritage concerns.
We are also familiar with utilising shipping containers for exterior solutions.

Workshop
In addition to our wide network of suppliers, we also have ample space in our workshop to prep and customise hardware prior to it turning up on-site. This reduces the need for multiple permits on site, and reduces downtime of doorways or structures.
We are experienced with the logistics of a high flow entrance being temporarily out of action, therefore our workshop and supplier network ensures we keep our clients sites running as smoothly as possible.
Our units in Kent also enable us to cut numerous key types along with our own patented POYNTELL Master Key System.
